Chile – Mandatory QR Mark for Low-Power Radio Devices
Chile Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (SUBTEL) issued Exempt Resolution No. 737/2025, which was officially enforced on February 22, 2026, launching a new differentiated compliance management policy for low-power short-range radio devices. The regulation clearly stipulates that mainstream civilian wireless products including Wi-Fi equipment, Bluetooth terminals, Zigbee intelligent devices, RFID identification equipment and common IoT sensors are exempted from mandatory SUBTEL type approval procedures, greatly simplifying market access procedures for such low-risk products. However, all exempted products must be printed with a dedicated official compliance QR code on the outer packaging. The QR code is linked to a standard Spanish official webpage, which fully displays product technical parameters, RF test data, official test reports and manufacturer’s conformity declaration information for random inspection by customs and market supervision authorities. It is clearly specified that wireless medical devices involving public health and safety are excluded from the exemption scope and must complete full standard SUBTEL type approval and technical verification. At present, Chilean customs and national market supervision departments have launched full-coverage special compliance inspections to strictly investigate unmarked, non-standard and uncertified wireless products.
