Indonesia – Updated National Spectrum Allocation Rules
Indonesia Ministerial Regulation No.8/2026 was officially implemented on February 20, 2026, formally repealing the old Ministerial Regulation No.12/2022, and realizing comprehensive alignment between national spectrum management rules and the latest 2024 ITU Radio Regulations (WRC-23 international standard). The regulation comprehensively updates Indonesia’s national frequency allocation table, unifies the unified specifications for national spectrum planning, license approval and technical compliance requirements covering all radio industries. It clarifies exclusive frequency band allocation and technical index standards for core emerging communication products, including 5G mobile communication terminals, Wi-Fi 6E high-speed wireless LAN equipment, multi-type IoT short-range wireless devices, 76-77GHz automotive millimeter-wave radar and satellite communication equipment. The regulatory coverage fully includes all radio service scenarios within the 3kHz–3000GHz frequency range, covering terrestrial mobile communication, broadcast transmission, radar detection and satellite communication business fields. All foreign manufacturers and exporters need to strictly verify the RF frequency parameters, transmission power and technical indicators of products to ensure full compliance with Indonesia’s local spectrum regulatory requirements, so as to avoid customs clearance failure and market access risks caused by frequency mismatch.
