Oman – Full Enforcement of GCTS for E-Mobility Devices
In accordance with Oman Administrative Decision No. 2/2025, the country launched a phased mandatory GCTS certification management system for personal electric mobility devices on January 1, 2026, with full-scale mandatory enforcement officially launched on April 30, 2026. The regulated product scope covers all mainstream civilian electric mobility equipment, including electric scooters, self-balancing hoverboards, electric unicycles, electric skateboards, and their supporting matching batteries, dedicated chargers and power adapters. All products entering the Omani market must complete conformity assessment in strict accordance with unified GCC G-Mark technical standards, and affix official anti-counterfeiting traceable GCTS marks on the product body or outer packaging. Each batch of imported electric mobility products must be accompanied by a standardized manufacturer’s Declaration of Conformity for customs declaration and market filing. The valid period of newly issued GCTS certificates is fixed at 3 years. The policy supports one-stop certification application, enabling enterprises to obtain both GCC G-Mark regional certification and Oman local GCTS certification through a single test and application process, greatly simplifying the certification cycle. In addition, a grace period for stock products is set: all qualified products officially launched on the market before April 30, 2026 can continue to be sold normally until April 30, 2027.
