Australia｜ACMA Updates AS/CA S042.1:2025 via Amendment No.1/2026 (AusAlert)

The Australian standard AS/CA S042.1:2025 has been updated with Amendment No.1/2026, introducing mandatory support for the national emergency cell broadcast warning system AusAlert. Device manufacturers must ensure their products can receive and process these emergency alerts to meet updated regulatory requirements. The standard specifies general requirements for Customer Equipment (CE) designed for use with a public mobile telecommunications service (PMTS) and/or a Satellite Service as an addressable device; it does not apply to non-addressable devices such as GPS terminals and satellite navigation systems. Additionally, AS/CA S042.4:2025 provides updated criteria for 4G LTE customer equipment with specific refinements for Band 26 requirements, and AS/CA S042.5:2025 updates the technical standards and RF conformance requirements for 5G NR customer equipment to maintain compliance for next-generation connectivity devices.
