South Korea|USB Type-C Connector Requirement Update
Under Article 28, Paragraph 9 of the Framework Act on Broadcasting and Telecommunications Development, South Korea established technical standards for charging and data transmission methods of broadcasting and telecommunications equipment, aiming to prevent resource waste and ensure consumer convenience. All applicable equipment must be equipped with a USB Type-C receptacle connector as specified in Appendix 1 (7. Terminal equipment). Starting November 6, 2026, the following devices require mandatory SDoC (Supplier's Declaration of Conformity) approval based on local testing: mobile phone, tablet, digital camera, headphones, headset, portable video game console, portable speaker, e-book reader, keyboard, mouse, portable navigation device, earphones, and laptop.
