South Africa|ICASA Publishes the Revised Frequency Allocation Plan
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) formally released the revised National Radio Frequency Plan 2026 (NRFP-2026) via Government Gazette No.55046 on July 24, 2026, replacing the 2021 version and establishing the national framework for radio frequency spectrum allocation between 8.3kHz and 3000GHz. This strategic update follows an extensive stakeholder consultation process initiated in April 2025 and ensures full alignment with international regulatory standards, including the ITU Radio Regulations (2024 Edition), African Telecommunications Union spectrum guidelines, and SADC regional frequency allocation protocols. The finalized framework incorporates revised South African National Footnotes and relevant international resolutions. The NRFP-2026 is accessible through ICASA's official portal, with a dedicated Electronic Frequency Information System scheduled for imminent deployment to support spectrum management activities.
